Giving products a second life

Reselling second-hand products

The management of unsold and shop-worn products is a major challenge for the Group. In order to find responsible solutions to customer returns, unsold products and products with damaged packaging, and to add value to these products, the Group created a dedicated “second life” service in 2018.

Since its launch, this activity has experienced strong growth. The year 2020 was no exception, with second-hand products resold under our Fnac 2nde Vie and Darty Occasion brands seeing a 40% increase in volumes.

Donations

Another way of reusing unsold goods is to donate them to associations.

These donations benefit long-standing partner associations such as Emmaüs France, Bibliothèques sans frontières and Secours Populaire, but also the Agence du don en nature, the Fondation des hôpitaux de France, Les papillons du ciel, Cekedubonheur, Clocliclown and Marions.

In 2020, over 216,000 products were donated to associations.

Reuse at the service of social and solidarity-based companies

Since 1984, Darty has been a partner of Envie, which works for professional integration through repairs. Thanks to this collaboration, 35% of the volume of electrical and electronic waste collected by Fnac Darty has been re-used by Envie.
